I heart market

Today I hit the I Heart Market for the first time this year. It wasn't as busy as usual because the weather was rather drizzly. But it was still a treat as always. There is a new stall called "Deer deer Tea Hunters". At the moment they are selling iced tea but in Winter they will sell hot tea. I had the sweet cranberry flavoured tea which had a hint of apple and cinnamon and it was delicious. Olivia had the blood orange flavour which apparently tasted good too but had a more bitter flavour. We saw our friends Simone and Mia and they posed for a picture with me as you can see below.

Awaken Youth Jols with Jesus

I don't know about you but I love joy, I'd much rather experiance joy then sadness. And what's so amazing is that God is full of joy. This means that we have joy pouring out of us as the fullness of God(the Holy Spirit) lives inside of us. My youth has caught onto this and we have been having some insanely joyful times together, tonight especially. We really are young, wild and free!

Freedom Cafe

The top left photo beneath is of my new book, "White Truffles in Winter" by N.M. Kelby which was recommended in the February 2013 issue of the Idea's Magazine. It's a novel about a French chef and his love relationships. The cappuchino and sausage dog shaped biscuit are from Freedom Cafe in St Mary's Avenue(off Stanford Hill Road) in Durban. The sausage dog is an iconic figure of Freedom Cafe and is reflected in their baking and furniture. There are long black sausage dog shaped benches at the entrance of the cafe which is actually a large crate converted into a cafe. In the bottom left photo you can see myself and Olivia sitting in the main room of Freedom Cafe. There are cool hairstyles stuck on the mirrored wall which add to the fun and creative atmosphere of the cafe.

Vintage coin and button necklaces

I love dabbling in creative sorts. So I thought I'd share my most recent craft. I got the initial inspiration to make this when I was in Cape Town exploring Kloof Street. I discovered a shop called "The Fringe Arts" which had a necklace with a 1 cent coin and a button on it. I kept this idea in my mind and eventually this last week I made my own necklaces like these. I stuck old foreign coins onto the back of different coloured buttons and added them onto string to make necklaces. They look super pretty and vintage.

Valentine's Day

So I'm not the biggest fan of Valentine's Day but I must say when you have a boyfriend it's rather fun. I didn't expect anything from him as he lives in Cape Town and I'm in Durban. But little did I know, later that evening one of my friends presented to me a beautiful bouquet of flowers saying that my boyfriend had asked her to give them to me. Now that is impressive. Brownie points for my man!

Take me to the Ocean

Take me to the Ocean

I absolutely love the beach; the sea, the sand, the waves, the wind, the sun...
I found this poem in the March Edition of Salt Water Girl Magazine and thought I'd share it with you.

Peace by Amey Meyer

Sometimes when the drama
Gets a bit too much
And the world won't take a break
From its ever-present rush
There are too many voices
Inside my head and out
All desperate to be heard
That's why they scream and shout

I take a step away from the crowd
But their voices carry through the wind
Jumbled, chaos, loud.
Run, run, faster and faster
Away from all man-made disaster

To a quiet, peaceful beach
I let my hair flow wild
And as my toes dig in the sand
I find just like a child

I dive headfirst into the sea
The cold gives me release
And as I stare into its turquoise glimmer
I am overcome with peace
